Dr. Khajeh-Hosseiny is Chairman of Open X Innovations LLC and Trinity Sky LLP, a venture capital and private equity investor; Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company on Innovation, Growth and Investments; and a Board Trustee of the Brookings Institution, the United States' oldest and largest public policy think tank, founded in 1916 and based in Washington, DC. Hosein is also a Board Trustee of the UK Productivity Leadership Group, an entity supported by the UK government and comprising of the leaders of some of UK's most distinguished corporations, to help transform the performance and competitiveness of UK enterprises.
Hosein has advised CEOs and Boards of global corporations; been a member of the Advisory Boards of several private equity and venture capital firms in the US, Europe, Japan, China and India; and has served on the Management Boards of venture backed technology companies on the West Coast.
Two of Dr.Khajeh-Hosseiny’s public service contributions to his home country, the United Kingdom, have focused on Smart Manufacturing and on Social Entrepreneurship. He has been sponsoring and advancing initiatives aimed at helping UK’s small and mid-sized manufacturing firms to more rapidly digitize, and transition towards Smart Manufacturing to help raise UK’s productivity and competitiveness. Hosein helped co-found UnLTD, a foundation dedicated to financing and advancing social entrepreneurship in the UK. For the past 18 years, he has been serving on its prize-winning Investment Committee.
One of Hosein’s key new public service priorities is helping foster a much more potent, value creating tapestry of trans-Atlantic collaboration between North America and European Advanced (including High Tech) industries and ecosystems. The three-fold objectives of this are: harnessing greater intra-industry growth and innovation; furthering the success of Advanced Industries in accelerating the technological empowerment and competitiveness of other economic sectors in the Western Hemisphere; and enhancing the private sector’s success in inducing a more inclusive social and economic fabric.
Hosein holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Econometrics from Cambridge University, and has spoken to several years of Graduate classes at Cambridge’s Judge Business School on Ethics, Growth and Investing. He also has a Masters in Finance and a BA in Economics. Hosein and his wife live in San Francisco and London.
